BIOGRAPHY

A native of Philadelphia, actor, singer, producer, and director Clayton Prince knew early on that entertainment was his calling. By twelve years old, Clayton had already secured professional acting jobs at the local repertory theatre where he honed his chops and learned his skills. By the time he reached his teens, Clayton recognized acting as his passion and enrolled in the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as a drama major. At 17, Clayton was cast in Boston's local production of the play American Passion opposite a then 17-year-old Robert Downey Jr.

Clayton went on to attend Temple University on a math scholarship, but after only a year, Clayton landed a part in the film The Last Dragon, and in pursuit of his dreams, relocated to New York City to give his acting career a boost. Within months, Clayton garnered one of the most recognized roles in sitcom history when the budding actor was cast as Denise's reggae-singing boyfriend Eddie Lakeheart in what has since become a classic episode of The Cosby Show. Clayton's strategic comedic timing coupled with Bill Cosby's hilarious reactions made the episode so popular that it went on to break Nielson ratings records!

Soon after his explosive sitcom debut, Clayton originated the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs in John Waters' 1988 hit film Hairspray where he starred opposite Ricki Lake, Debbie Harry, Jerry Stiller and Sonny Bono. By the 1990's, Clayton returned to television and was a regular on the popular NBC soap opera Another World where he won critical acclaim in the role of Reuben Lawrence.

After two seasons with Another World, CBS took notice of Clayton’s good looks and gifted talents and offered the actor his own television series entitled Dark Justice, where Clayton portrayed Jericho “Gibs” Gibson.  Shot on-location in Spain and in Los Angeles, the drama ran for three seasons and was seen in over fifty countries around the world.

For the next few years, Clayton spent much of his time in both New York and LA, working on various projects and appeared in guest and recurring roles on such notable series as Spin City, Third Watch, The Wayans Brothers, andHack.  In 2007, Clayton was cast opposite Vivica A. Fox in the 20th Century Fox film Cover.  Directed by Bill Duke, the film became a cult classic and, once again, critics and fans alike singled out Clayton’s stellar performance.

After a two-year hiatus due to a car accident, Clayton is back on the scene.  He recently developed his own production company called Magic Management and is the producer, director and star of a new web series CREAM that made its debut in the summer of 2013.
